Courtroom in the Delivery Room…. When the State Claims Your Body 🩸⚖️
A woman in labor was forced to plead for control over her own body while a judge watched through an iPad…. because apparently in modern America, even childbirth can come with a courtroom attached. If that doesn’t make your blood boil, you’re not paying attention.

A woman is in active labor…. twelve hours deep…. in pain, exhausted, doing the most human thing imaginable…. and what does the hospital do?
They wheel in an iPad.
“Hey, cover up…. we’ve got a judge on Zoom deciding what we’re going to do to your body.”
That’s not dystopian fiction…. that’s Florida under TRUMP RULE.
According to a ProPublica report, Cherise Doyley — a mother and professional birth doula — was blindsided when hospital staff summoned a literal courtroom to her bedside. No warning. No lawyer. No time to think. Just a judge, attorneys, and hospital officials staring at her like she’s a legal problem instead of a human being in labor.
Her “crime”? Wanting to make her own medical decision.
She’d had three prior C-sections, including one that nearly killed her. She understood the risks. She made an informed choice. You know…. the thing adults are supposed to be allowed to do.
But apparently not if you’re pregnant.
For THREE HOURS — while she’s in labor — lawyers and doctors debated whether the state could override her bodily autonomy in the name of “protecting the fetus.” Imagine arguing constitutional law while someone is having contractions. Absolutely grotesque.
Here’s the kicker: in America right now, a competent adult can refuse surgery…. unless she’s pregnant. Then suddenly, her rights become optional.
Prisoners on hunger strikes? More medical autonomy.
Dead bodies? Yep…. more control over what happens to them.
But a living, breathing woman in labor? Roll in the judge and let’s litigate her uterus.
And let’s not pretend this is random. Another nearly identical case. Same situation. Same pressure. Same outcome.
Both women were Black.
What a coincidence, right? 🙄
In the end, Doyley was forced into surgery after doctors claimed distress. Her baby survived — thank God — but the experience shattered her. She said she may never attend another birth again.
And honestly…. who could blame her?
Because here’s the real question that should make every American uncomfortable:
If the state can override your body while you’re in labor…. what can’t it do?
We’ve reached a point where “freedom” apparently comes with terms and conditions — and those terms vanish the second you’re pregnant.
And let’s be real for one second….
Find me the scenario where a man is strapped to a hospital bed while a judge decides — in real time — whether he gets cut open against his will.
I’ll wait. ⏳
Taking control of someone’s body without consent isn’t medicine…. it isn’t law…. it isn’t protection….
It’s coercion. Full stop.
And dressing it up in legal language doesn’t make it less ugly — it just makes it more honest about what’s actually happening.
This isn’t about life.
This is about control.
